The Locomotive

Like a Train - A story by Raffa

When I was a child my father used to say I was like a train: running straight towards what I wanted without lingering…

I didn’t really understand what he meant at the time but I liked it as I always loved trains. I had to become a little older and wiser to fully appreciate it: to be like a train is to have a powerful engine inside which drives you onwards to your destination.

Do you want to know what this powerful engine is, and wonder if your child has it too? Then this Fun Sheet is for you.

But before getting on board, you’ll need a ticket. When Alice in Wonderland made her strange train journey she couldn’t find one but don’t worry, you and your child can design your own! So enjoy Alice’s train ride with your child, before embarking on your own journey and learning about this magical powerful engine…

The Train Engine

Imagine you were a train and your destinations your dreams. You move constantly towards your destination – even if you occasionally ‘fail’, as failure can be turned into opportunity, or you encounter conflict, as conflict can be turned into learning. Your motivation is the engine that helps you build momentum, moving forwards, and urging towards your goal. I guess my father was comparing life to a journay by train. What are your child’s dreams and what is their motivation? Let’s find them with this Fun Sheet!
